Fieldtool Help

This page explains what each main Fieldtool area is for and where to begin.

Getting started

  1. Log in to Fieldtool.
  2. Begin at the Desk.
  3. Use the top menu to open the area you need.
  4. Use Help when a route or button is unclear.
  5. Save your work before leaving an editing page.

Desk

The Desk is the main starting page. It shows your working areas and recent activity.

Library

Library holds saved reading and research material.

Art

Art holds artwork records, images and related information.

Author Desk

Author Desk holds author or contributor information.

My Website Pages

My Website Pages lists the website pages attached to your account.

  1. Find the page you want to work on.
  2. Open the page tools.
  3. Use Page setup for the basic page record.
  4. Use Text/Metadata for titles, descriptions and page text.
  5. Use the appearance and image tools as needed.
  6. Preview before copying anything to the live site.

Open My Website Pages

Word Room

Word Room is a writing tool. It helps you prepare and save a working scene.

  1. Add the characters available to the story.
  2. Write a short story brief.
  3. Choose a Room and add the scene details.
  4. Choose words for the scene.
  5. Choose a charged word when needed.
  6. Use the Sentence Loom to build or continue the scene.
  7. Save useful work on the Scene Shelf.

The tool supplies choices and sentence material. The writer decides what belongs in the story.

Archive

Archive is used for material that has been put aside or removed from the active workspace.

Settings controls personal workspace choices.

Build a website page

  1. Open My Website Pages.
  2. Open an existing page or start a new page.
  3. Use Page setup.
  4. Use Text/Metadata.
  5. Add a Page Banner when required.
  6. Use Word Room when writing support is useful.
  7. Use Content Panel Appearance.
  8. Add or arrange P1 and P2 content boxes.
  9. Add images or a gallery.
  10. Preview the page.
  11. Use Copy Page to Live Site only when the page is ready.

Preview and publication

  1. Read the page from beginning to end.
  2. Check the title and author name.
  3. Check every image and caption.
  4. Open every visible link.
  5. Check the page on a phone as well as a computer.
  6. Preview before copying the page to the live site.
  7. Open the public page after the copy completes.
