Fieldtool Help
This page explains what each main Fieldtool area is for
and where to begin.
Getting started
- Log in to Fieldtool.
- Begin at the Desk.
- Use the top menu to open the area you need.
- Use Help when a route or button is unclear.
- Save your work before leaving an editing page.
Desk
The Desk is the main starting page.
It shows your working areas and recent activity.
- Use Desk entries for notes and reminders.
- Use the menu to move to Library, Art, Author Desk, Archive or Settings.
- Use My Website Pages when you want to build or edit a page.

Library
Library holds saved reading and research material.
- Use collections to group related material.
- Use bookmarks to save useful links.
- Use clear titles so material is easy to find again.
- Archive material when it is no longer active.

Art
Art holds artwork records, images and related information.
- Add a clear title for each work.
- Record the artist or image source where required.
- Check that you have permission to publish an image.
- Use the image tools inside My Website Pages when placing an image on a page.

Author Desk
Author Desk holds author or contributor information.
- Manage profile information.
- Review publication records.
- Open My Website Pages.
- Check which pages belong to the logged-in account.

My Website Pages lists the website pages attached
to your account.
- Find the page you want to work on.
- Open the page tools.
- Use Page setup for the basic page record.
- Use Text/Metadata for titles, descriptions and page text.
- Use the appearance and image tools as needed.
- Preview before copying anything to the live site.

Word Room
Word Room is a writing tool.
It helps you prepare and save a working scene.
- Add the characters available to the story.
- Write a short story brief.
- Choose a Room and add the scene details.
- Choose words for the scene.
- Choose a charged word when needed.
- Use the Sentence Loom to build or continue the scene.
- Save useful work on the Scene Shelf.
The tool supplies choices and sentence material.
The writer decides what belongs in the story.

Archive
Archive is used for material that has been put aside
or removed from the active workspace.
- Use Archive to find stored records.
- Read the confirmation message before restoring or deleting anything.
- Archiving and deleting are different actions.

Settings
Settings controls personal workspace choices.
- Choose the interface language where available.
- Use Menu Focus to show or hide optional working areas.
- Hidden menu areas are not deleted.
- Return to Settings to restore a hidden area.

Build a website page
- Open My Website Pages.
- Open an existing page or start a new page.
- Use Page setup.
- Use Text/Metadata.
- Add a Page Banner when required.
- Use Word Room when writing support is useful.
- Use Content Panel Appearance.
- Add or arrange P1 and P2 content boxes.
- Add images or a gallery.
- Preview the page.
- Use Copy Page to Live Site only when the page is ready.
Images and galleries
- Use Upload My Image for a new image.
- Use My Images or Image Bank to choose an existing image.
- Check the filename, credit and permission before publication.
- Use the page preview to check image size and position.
- Use gallery controls from the gallery section of the page.
Preview and publication
- Read the page from beginning to end.
- Check the title and author name.
- Check every image and caption.
- Open every visible link.
- Check the page on a phone as well as a computer.
- Preview before copying the page to the live site.
- Open the public page after the copy completes.
Password and account access
- Use Show password when entering a long password.
- Use the exact email address registered to the account.
- Use Forgot your password? when the password is not known.
- The reset link expires after one hour and can be used once.
- Check the junk or spam folder when the reset email does not appear in the inbox.

Report a problem
Include the following information:
- Page: where the problem happened.
- Device: computer, phone or tablet.
- Browser: Chrome, Firefox, Safari or another browser.
- Action: what you tried to do.
- Result: what happened instead.
- Repeat: whether it happens every time.
- Screenshot: include one when useful.
